Lead Network Operations Administrator

About the Role

As the Lead Network and Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing Brivo's critical IT infrastructure. This includes network operations, system administration, and security. In this role, you’ll lead the team responsible for day-to-day operations, perform complex troubleshooting, oversee system upgrades, and manage technical support to enhance organizational effectiveness. You will also contribute to developing and implementing Brivo’s IT strategy, ensuring alignment with the company’s objectives, and providing essential training for end-users. We welcome applications from candidates based in the US who can work on a hybrid schedule in Bethesda, MD.

Responsibilities 

  • Network and System Maintenance: Maintain and manage Brivo’s infrastructure, including laptops, desktops, servers, routers, switches, firewalls, printers, phones, and other peripherals; ensure system integrity and security updates for the company’s internet, intranet, LANs, WANs, and network segments.
  • Server Administration: Oversee server administration tasks, including user/group management, setting up security permissions and group policies, and monitoring system resources; troubleshoot system errors and warnings and ensure cohesive system architecture.
  • Datacenter Monitoring: Proactively monitor datacenter health, manage and address hardware issues, and support the setup, testing, and maintenance of new servers.
  • Perform IAM administration tasks using Okta identity engine, including user/group management, security permissions, group policies, research event log warnings and errors, creating workflows, and integrating applications.
  • System Audits and Backups: Perform routine audits on systems to ensure compliance with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and perform regular backups of essential data.
  • IT Operations Management: Manage essential IT operations, encompassing operating systems, security tools, applications, email systems, laptops, desktops, and both software and hardware.
  • Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Serve as the escalation point for help desk requests, conducting root cause analysis and providing support for hardware and software issues. Lead technical troubleshooting and solutions for complex problems.
  • Vendor and Partner Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external partners to communicate project status, ensure seamless coordination of activities, and report on IT achievements.
  • Client Systems and Software Upgrades: Oversee the operation and maintenance of client-based operating systems; manage upgrades for enhanced functionality and resolution of security issues.
  • Hardware Installation and Testing: Manage installation, testing, and maintenance of computer-related equipment and ensure all systems are optimized for operational efficiency.
  • Respond to escalated help desk requests by assisting with troubleshooting, identifying a root cause, and providing technical support.
  • Upgrade systems and processes, as required for enhanced functionality and security issue resolution.
  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect systems from unauthorized access, viruses, and other threats.
  • Apply software patches, updates, and security fixes to keep systems up-to-date and secure.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation on the network, systems configurations, and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years in network and systems administration, with expertise in troubleshooting complex technical issues, customer support, and enterprise-level network management.
  • Advanced understanding of LAN/WAN networking, VLANs, routing, and firewall management. Expert-level experience with Active Directory, Cisco Networking, VMWare, and CrashPlan.
  • Expertise with setting up, managing, and troubleshooting IAM, MDM, DLP, and Networking equipment.
  • Experience with Cisco Meraki products, including MX, MS, and MR devices.
  • Software and Cloud Proficiency: Proficient in SaaS-based products, client management tools, and cloud computing (AWS, Azure), as well as experience with domain management, DNS, and Group Policy Administration.
  • Security Expertise: Advanced knowledge of system vulnerabilities, security issues, Data Loss Prevention methodologies, and enterprise backup and recovery procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on software knowledge, installation, security, and use.
  • Experience using client management tools to automate and centrally manage assets in an enterprise environment.
  • Communication and Project Management: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience in project management, application design and integration, and team leadership.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs as part of hardware maintenance and support duties.

Preferred skills

  • Expertise in managing Okta IAM, JAMF, and Microsoft Intune MDM
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VPN).
  • Experience with Cisco Meraki products, including MX, MS, and MR devices.

The total compensation package for this full-time position includes a salary range of $100,000 - $130,000. Individual compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, training, and market conditions. In addition to cash compensation (includes base salary and, where applicable, may include incentive or overtime pay), Brivonians are eligible for benefits & perks (www.brivo.com/about/careers) based on their work locations.
